The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Republic of Korea Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Sign Memorandum of Understanding

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Republic of Korea Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding strengthening the partnership between the two organizations in Omaha, Aug. 7. The MOU was signed during the DPAA Korean/Cold War Annual Government Briefing, held Aug. 6-7, which provided Gold Star Families in attendance with the latest information on the cases of their missing loved ones.

DPAA Marks 800th Korean War Identification at Korean/Cold War Annual Government Briefing

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced a significant milestone in the accounting mission during its annual Korean/Cold War Government Briefing in Omaha, Nebraska, Aug. 6-7, marking the 800th identification from the Korean War. The annual event, held for the first time in Omaha, provided families in attendance with the latest information on the cases of their missing loved ones.

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Detachment 1 Welcomes New Leadership

BANGKOK — Leadership of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Detachment 1 was officially passed to its newest leader, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jee Chung, July 15, 2026. Chung, who took control of Detachment 1 during a change of leadership ceremony held at the U.S. Embassy grounds in Bangkok, was previously assigned as the Director of Plans and Joint Coordination, 7th Air Force, Osan Air Base, South Korea.

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Korea DMZ Observation Mission

CHEORWON, South Korea — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency deployed a team of five multifunctional experts to the Republic of Korea during the week of May 11 – 15, 2026. The team observed current ROK recovery operations in the Demilitarized Zone at White Horse Hill and conducted a joint observation mission at ROK Guard Post 613 in the vicinity of Hill 111.
