Rosies Hold Part of History at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Two “Rosies”, visited the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Hawaii laboratory on Dec. 9, 2024. Jeanne Gibson and Delphine Klayput, both referred to as Rosies, received a tour of the facility and had the opportunity to hold a historical Rosies artifact recovered by DPAA.

VFW Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief Visits Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Offutt Laboratory

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — Veterans of Foreign Wars Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief and Nebraska VFW leaders Visited the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency’s Offutt laboratory at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, Dec. 3, 2024. Timothy Peters, VFW Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief, and the VFW team toured the DPAA lab facility to gain an in-depth understanding of the DPAA mission and the facility’s operations.

Fallen Arkansas Soldier returned home with help from Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency

LAKE CITY, Ark. — After almost 75 years, a U.S. Army sergeant, who served in World War II and the Korean War, was finally laid to rest with full military honors in his hometown of Lake City, Nov. 19, 2024. That same day, the flags across the state of Arkansas were flown at half-staff in honor of U.S. Army Sgt. Charles Beaty, who was positively identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency on April 5, 2024.

DPAA Completes First Recovery Mission in 13 years in China

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recently completed an excavation of a suspected P-40 Warhawk aircraft crash site form World War II, found in the Hunan province of China. From early August to mid-September, 12 military and specialized Department of Defense civilians formed a recovery team tasked with searching for and recovering the remains of a pilot lost 81years ago.

More than 60 partner attendees representing 30 partners and more than 25 DPAA personnel attended the 3rd annual symposium, which greatly advanced internal and external collaboration while generating new ways to improve communication and enhance partners’ contributions to increasing DPAA’s capabilities and capacity.
