ROK-U.S. Repatriation Ceremony
At Seoul Air Base, South Korean and U.S. teams joined forces for a solemn Joint ROK-US Repatriation Ceremony. Hosted by the South Korean President, with the Commander of United Nations Command serving as the senior U.S. officiant, this historic event represents the strength and sacred duty of our enduring alliance.
During the ceremony, custody was transferred for 10 sets of possible remains of South Korean service members recovered by DPAA, returning them to their homeland. Concurrently, DPAA received custody of 3 sets of possible remains of American personnel recovered by our South Korean partner, the Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery and Identification.
Following the ceremony, the possible U.S. remains began the journey to the DPAA laboratory in Hawaii to begin the forensic identification process. This mutual repatriation is a testament to our shared, unwavering commitment to bring every missing service member home.
