The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Republic of Korea Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Sign Memorandum of Understanding

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Republic of Korea Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding strengthening the partnership between the two organizations in Omaha, Aug. 7. The MOU was signed during the DPAA Korean/Cold War Annual Government Briefing, held Aug. 6-7, which provided Gold Star Families in attendance with the latest information on the cases of their missing loved ones.

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Korea DMZ Observation Mission

CHEORWON, South Korea — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency deployed a team of five multifunctional experts to the Republic of Korea during the week of May 11 – 15, 2026. The team observed current ROK recovery operations in the Demilitarized Zone at White Horse Hill and conducted a joint observation mission at ROK Guard Post 613 in the vicinity of Hill 111.

DPAA and South Korea's MAKRI Forge Stronger Partnership in Recovering Missing Korean War Heroes

WASHINGTON — The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery and Identification, MAKRI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Arlington, Virginia, Aug. 6, solidifying their commitment to recovering and identifying remains of service members missing from the Korean War.
