VIETNAM –
Members of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons, and U.S. Ambassador Marc Knapper, took part in a repatriation ceremony in Vietnam, April 19, 2025.
The ceremony marked the end of a recent joint field activity and its efforts to recover unaccounted-for personnel from the Vietnam War.
During the ceremony, DPAA team members and Socialist Republic of Vietnam officials transferred possible remains to DPAA for potential identification at the DPAA laboratory on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the end of Vietnam war and there are currently 1,573 personnel missing from that conflict.
DPAA's mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting for America's missing personnel to their families and the nation.
