WASHINGTON  –

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Irvin T. Crews, 21, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for on Feb. 2, 2026.

Crews served in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 12, 1950, after the Jangjin (Chosin) Reservoir battle and subsequent withdrawal. Crew’s unit conducted limited casualty accounting prior to arriving in Hungnam on Dec. 12, issuing a list of MIA personnel, including 87 Soldiers that went missing in the vicinity of Hagaru-ri. Crews was included among the missing. Details of his loss are unknown due to limited reporting capabilities during the fighting withdrawal, and heavy casualties. Crews remained in MIA status for the duration of the war.

This is an initial release. The complete accounting of Crews' case will be published once the family receives their full briefing.
