WASHINGTON –
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Cpl. Donald E. Nickel, 20, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for June 23, 2025.
In late 1950, Nickel was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 3 in the vicinity of Hagaru-ri near the Jangjin (Chosin) Reservoir, North Korea. Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered and on Dec. 31, 1953, the Army issued a presumptive finding of death. Nickel was declared non recoverable on Jan. 16, 1956.
