Soldier Accounted For From Korean War (Nickel, D.)

WASHINGTON   –  

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Cpl. Donald E. Nickel, 20, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for June 23, 2025.      

In late 1950, Nickel was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 3 in the vicinity of Hagaru-ri near the Jangjin (Chosin) Reservoir, North Korea. Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered and on Dec. 31, 1953, the Army issued a presumptive finding of death. Nickel was declared non recoverable on Jan. 16, 1956.

This is an initial release. The complete accounting of Nickel's case will be published once the family receives their full briefing.
