Soldier Accounted For From WWII (Shelton, J.)

WASHINGTON  –

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Junior J. Shelton, 24, killed during World War II, was accounted for April 25, 2025.

In 1944, Shelton was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. He was reportedly killed in action on Oct. 4 after his company encountered German enemy forces near Hatterath, Germany. His remains were not accounted for after the war.

This is an initial release. The complete accounting of Shelton's case will be published once the family receives their full briefing.
