Meghan Bodnar, deputy director for operations for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, visit the MI 17 Memorial on Heroes’ Green in front of the Daniel K. Inouye DPAA Center for Excellence at Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam, Hawaii, on May 11, 2026. The memorial honors the seven U.S. service members assigned to DPAA predecessor organizations—Joint Task Force–Full Accounting and the Central Identification Laboratory, Hawaii—along with U.S. Navy augmentees who were killed when their aircraft, flying in poor weather conditions, struck a hilltop while preparing for the next planned mission on April 7, 2001, in Quang Binh Province, Vietnam.
