U.S. military and civilian personnel from DPAA work with its in-country detachment, the U.S. Embassy, locals and the Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons officials to work towards a successful recovery mission. They are supplemented by short-term individual augments from U.S. Army units; 102nd Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Enhanced Response Force, Oregon, 21st Infantry Regiment, and U.S. Air Force units; 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 35th Surgical Operations Squadron, 673rd Healthcare Operations Squadron and 39th Air Base Wing, which contribute their specialized skill sets to the mission.
