US and Malaysia partnership brings fallen hero home
U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter and Malaysia Deputy Defense Minister Dato’ Wira Mohd Johari Bin Baharum officially sign documents turning over remains of a U.S. service member prior to a repatriation ceremony at Subang Air Base, Malaysia, Nov. 5, 2015. The joint effort between the U.S. and Malaysia culminated in a 25-day mission from Aug. 16 through Sept. 9, 2015, at a crash site near Beruas village, Manjung district, Perak state, Malaysia. The mission resulted in the success of finding osseous remains as well as material evidence. The partnership between the two countries marks the first of its kind.
