Seaman 1st Class Walter C. Stein ANC Funeral
Navy Seaman 1st Class Walter C. Stein, 20, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, killed during World War II, was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, March 24, 2022. On Dec. 7, 1941, Stein was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft. The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen, including Stein. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identified and accounted for Stein on April 16, 2021. To read the release of his accounting, click the link below.
