USS Oklahoma Sailor Laid to Rest
U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Deshannon Beaty, Navy service casualty officer, talks with the family of U.S. Navy Seaman 2nd Class Challis R. James during his funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. James was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft.
The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen. James was accounted for on Jan. 29, 2016 and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

Missing And Not Forgotten
This month's episode of

In this episode, we talk to Dr. Dawn Berry, the head of Korean War research in our IndoPacific directorate, about the role our historians played in his identification and their overall role in our efforts to fulfill our nation's promise.
