Soldier Accounted For From Korean War (Mendoza, P.)

WASHINGTON — Army Sgt. 1st Class Phillip C. Mendoza, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for Aug. 9, 2019.

In late 1950, Mendoza was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery, 57th Field Artillery Battalion, 31st Regimental Combat Team. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 2, 1950, when enemy forces attacked his unit near Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered.
